Motion Designer / Production Artist

BIEN

BIEN is the inclusive motion design studio.

We’re looking for a USA-based Motion Designer / Production Artist to join our team full-time, working remotely on projects in the entertainment and tech industries.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in production environments, loves organizing complex After Effects files, has strong design instincts, and takes real ownership of deliverables. You’re collaborative, detail-obsessed, efficient under pressure, and comfortable stepping in wherever needed — whether that’s polishing a render, jumping into someone else’s file, or supporting a client call.

You believe great work happens when ego is left at the door, feedback is welcomed, and the team has each other’s backs. You’ll work with clients at Disney, Nat Geo, Meta, Netflix, Google, Hulu, Dropbox, The Getty Museum, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting motion design projects from production through final delivery.
  • Jumping into existing After Effects files and getting up to speed quickly.
  • Maintaining impeccable file organization and naming conventions.
  • QC’ing your own renders thoroughly before posting (and catching major errors before producers have to).
  • Building toolkits and systems that make large projects easier and more scalable.
  • Designing and animating UI/product work (including tech and platform-based animations).
  • Supporting art direction and, when needed, leading smaller projects.
  • Being present on client calls when needed and representing BIEN professionally.
  • Taking full ownership of deliverables, including flexibility around production needs and timelines.
  • Helping the team navigate last-minute emergencies with calm, efficiency, and humor.
  • Advocating for diversity and inclusion on-screen and behind the scenes in your daily work.

Requirements

  • Must LIVE in the USA, have appropriate paperwork, and work PST hours. No exceptions, sorry.
  • 4+ years of experience in a motion design or production environment.
  • Advanced After Effects skills — you can confidently open someone else’s file and work efficiently.
  • Expert-level AE file organization (this is non-negotiable).
  • Strong 2D design fundamentals (typography, color, layout).
  • Experience with Figma and UI design.
  • UI animation experience (especially product/tech-focused work).
  • Strong toolkit and production system-building skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Client-facing experience and strong communication skills.
  • Comfortable receiving creative feedback from producers and collaborating cross-functionally.
  • A proactive team player with no ego.
  • Willingness to continuously learn new tools and technologies to improve the work.
  • Must be meticulous and detail-oriented (if you read this, put 3 asterisks in the 1st line of the submission form).
  • Must be very funny. Also comfortable sitting in silence during long working sessions.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary (55 - 70K)
  • SIMPLE IRA retirement savings plan.
  • Continuing education stipend.
  • Health insurance.
  • 4 weeks vacation.
  • 100% remote.
  • Flexible working hours, but must work PST hours.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to respond to any messages or questions.

We are looking to fill this position by the end of March. If you are not USA-based, please do not apply because your application won’t be considered. Thank you!
