Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in project management and technical solution delivery.
  • 5 years of experience in Android/Linux based platforms.

Preferred qualifications

  • MBA or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with Android compliance (i.e., CTS, GMS, VTS) or owning and defining software, hardware, UX requirements.
  • Experience in customer-facing migration, including service discovery, assessment, planning, execution, and operations.
  • Ability to jump into both Google and Android codebases, understand code, and identify issue failures.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and problem solving skills.

About the job

As a Technical Solutions Consultant, you will be responsible for the technical relationship of our largest advertising clients and/or product partners. You will lead cross-functional teams in Engineering, Sales and Product Management to leverage emerging technologies for our external clients/partners. From concept design and testing to data analysis and support, you will oversee the technical execution and business operations of Google's online advertising platforms and/or product partnerships.

You will be able to balance business and partner needs with technical constraints, develop innovative, cutting edge solutions and act as a partner and consultant to those you are working with. You will also be able to build tools and automate products, oversee the technical execution and business operations of Google's partnerships, as well as develop product strategy and prioritize projects and resources.

The Android Platform Compatibility team ensures a consistent platform and application API surface across the range of Android devices, including phones, tablets, TV, automotive, and emerging verticals. We drive compatibility by defining minimum hardware requirements, establishing platform standards by technology or feature area, and enforcing these through compatibility testing. We also work closely with OEM manufacturers worldwide to build and certify compatible Android devices. Our goal is to support Android application developers at scale by ensuring uniform platform implementations across Android devices, allowing apps to run seamlessly across different brands and form factors.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with geographically distributed engineering teams to improve Android platform power, memory, and resource efficiency to enable platform longevity and performance across the variety of android devices.
  • Represent the team in the virtual team of cross-functional collaborators from organizations such as engineering, product management, business development, etc., who work together on driving our partners’ adoption of latest version of Android.
  • Define new hardware, platform, and application compatibility requirements to deliver a consistent user and developer experience across the Android ecosystem.
  • Contribute to designing policies, tools, and programs to help the Android platform scale while optimizing for improved resource utilization.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure Android platform compliance with API, security, and privacy standards, driving process improvements in technical requirements and enforcement.
