The Work
The Strategic Products & Initiatives Integrated Engineering organization is looking for a first line manager to lead our Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics team. This engineering team is supporting leading edge research and development to accelerate the application of data analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) for military training, logistics, and simulation solutions. The role requires a resourceful, persistent, and innovative technologist willing to reach out to other projects and organizations to ensure successful execution of the projects.
The selected candidate will require a growth mindset, as they will be at the forefront of defining what is possible, building the team, and partnering across the organization to shape future investment and growth in this critical field.
This position will require the technical leadership skills needed to:
- Lead cross-functional (engineering, business development, program management) efforts to identify and shape IRAD projects across the TLS portfolio
- Identify, champion, and execute Data and AI/ML projects on programs
- Design and lead projects within the Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Science, and AI/ML domains
- Define data architecture and data engineering processes to collect relevant data for AI/ML and data solutions
- Evaluate trade studies for data analytics and AI/ML solutions
- Drive adoption and awareness of new Data and AI/ML capabilities and technologies across the TLS portfolio
- Serve as the TLS liaison with other Data and AI/ML organizations across the LM enterprise (such as the LM Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) or Data Analytics Innovation (DAI))
Management responsibilities include
- Coordinating recruitment, developing training plans, working with employees to develop career plans, and employee performance monitoring and reviews
- Facilitate the deployment and use of best practices, tools, and processes on our programs and work with the program leads to ensure projects are staffed properly and the meeting all business commitments.
Note: This position will require the selected candidate to have or obtain a Secret level government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is a requirement for consideration.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/technical discipline from an accredited college in a related discipline plus relevant work experience
- Knowledgeable in Systems/Software Engineering Processes and Tools
- Python proficiency
- Demonstrated leadership skills and behaviors that align with the Full Spectrum Leadership Imperatives
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience planning and coordinating systems/software development in a team-oriented environment
- Experience in designing and applying AI/ML or Data Science techniques and technologies, frameworks, and applications to practical and comprehensive technology solutions
- Knowledge of basic algorithms, object-oriented and functional design principles, and best practice patterns
Desired Skills
- Master’s degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a computational science field
- Background in mathematics and statistics
- Experience with a deep learning library: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn, etc
- Experience with Data Science techniques: regression analysis, statistics, data extraction and cleansing, etc
- Experience building LLMs and/or Generative AI Workflows
- Experience with container technologies (Docker and Kubernetes) and other DevOps tools (Docker, Git)
- Experience in SQL with complex query development and optimization (Oracle, T-SQL)
- Control Account Management (CAM) Experience
- Working knowledge of Agile, Atlassian tool suite, Model Based Engineering (MBE)

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
