Role Summary

We're seeking a Marketing Director to lead and scale Playhouse MD's growth engine across performance and content. This role is responsible for driving measurable acquisition and retention across DTC, Amazon, and retail — while ensuring brand alignment at every touchpoint.

Who You Are

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on data, gets energized by storytelling and being creative, understands the customer acquisition funnel top-to-bottom, and brings experience from early-stage consumer brands that successfully scaled into omnichannel businesses. You'll bring structure, insight, and creativity to a high-growth environment, where you'll collaborate across functions to turn marketing into a growth engine with clear, data-driven impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performance Marketing & Channel Strategy
  • Own and optimize key KPIs across paid media, influencer/affiliates, Amazon, and retail marketing channels.
  • Operate inside performance dashboards (Meta, Triple Whale, Lucky Orange, Klaviyo, Amazon Ads) and turn insights into action.
  • Collaborate with agency partners and internal teams to optimize spend and campaign efficacy.
  • Drive cross-channel attribution frameworks and testing roadmaps to guide media allocation.
  • Creative Direction & Content Optimization
  • Evaluate ad creative, influencer content, founder videos, and email performance regularly.
  • Lead the content briefing process for editors/designers to enable rapid iteration and testing.
  • Ask the right questions: What's the scroll-stopper? Where's the hook? How do we lift CTR or CVR?

Lifecycle Marketing

  • Own the email/SMS strategy across flows and campaigns, focusing on segmentation, visual quality, and conversion.
  • Manage performance, testing plans, and copy iterations that drive retention and LTV.
  • Maintain strong brand voice while delivering performance across lifecycle touchpoints.

Amazon & Retail Growth Support

  • Develop omnichannel campaigns tailored to Amazon and in-store retail behavior.
  • Execute tactics like geo-targeted media, IRL activations, influencer partnerships, and review seeding for key product and sales launches.
  • Optimize Amazon PDPs (bullets, imagery, reviews, ads) and track how assets influence purchase behavior across platforms.

Insights, Reporting & Team Communication

  • Lead a weekly growth sync that reviews performance, creative wins/losses, and new test opportunities.
  • Bridge the gap between data and creative to empower the broader team with learnings.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, and Finance to align on sell-through, messaging, growth goals, resource allocation, and budget.
  • Analyze consumer behavior and category trends to uncover growth opportunities and inform creative and channel strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in performance marketing, growth, or brand strategy roles within consumer brands
  • Understanding of full-funnel acquisition and retention strategies across DTC, Amazon, and retail
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage and interpret consumer trends, marketing data, and KPIs
  • Strong creative instincts with the ability to evaluate and improve content performance across channels
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Preferred Experience & Qualities
  • Proficiency with analytics tools such as Shopify, Meta Ads Manager, Klaviyo, Triple Whale, TikTok Ads, Amazon Ads, and Lucky Orange.
  • Experience in early-stage or high-growth omnichannel consumer brands.
  • A creative and curious thinker who loves solving problems from new angles
  • Comfortable zooming between big-picture brand strategy and in-the-weeds execution
  • Energized by startup pace and wearing multiple hats

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Opportunity for equity
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible work environment
