Freelance Social Media/Digital Marketing Manager for Indie Music Artist

We’re looking for an experienced Social Media / Digital Marketing Manager to support an indie music artist’s growth and release campaigns. The focus is on artist discovery, fan growth, and world-building across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

This role is not just about posting clips of the music. We want content that also shows who the artist is, personality, interests, daily life, process – to build a real brand, likability, and relatability alongside the music.

What you’ll do

• Develop a clear monthly social/digital strategy tied to the artist’s release schedule and brand story
• Build a weekly content calendar mixing:

– music-focused content (snippets, rollouts, live, BTS)

– personality/lifestyle content that shows interests, routines, opinions, and creative process

• Provide creative direction: hooks, angles, reference clips, shot lists, and caption ideas that fit the artist’s voice and world
• Coordinate with us to turn existing and new footage into short-form content
• Schedule and publish posts consistently; light community management (comments/DM triage)
• Track platform analytics (reach, watch time, saves, shares, CTR, audience demographics) and send short weekly/bi-weekly reports with clear recommendations
• Stay on top of trends in music and social platforms and suggest formats/challenges we can adapt without losing authenticity
• (Nice to have) Set up and optimize small paid campaigns/boosts around releases

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience managing social media for music artists/labels, ideally where you helped develop the artist’s brand/personality, not just promote releases (please share examples)
• A track record of creative social campaigns and strategic release rollouts for music (singles, EPs, albums)
• Strong understanding of how Reels, and YouTube Shorts drive music discovery and fandom
• Comfortable working as an ongoing freelance partner, communicating clearly and meeting agreed content deadlines
