This is a part-time (20 hours/week), position with expected hours to be worked during business hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
Job Summary
With supervision and support from the Assistant Director for Corporate Affairs Effectiveness the Graduate Assistant will support assessment initiatives and practices throughout ASI to understand, report/share, and develop the efficacy of ASI services and experiences in support of student development and success. The Graduate Assistant will help steward ASI’s assessment philosophy and framework and cultivate a strong culture of assessment throughout the organization, centering equity-based, justice-oriented student development and success through the strategic application of learning, and program/performance, outcome-based practices. The Graduate Assistant will work directly with ASI staff and students to develop and implement assessment practices to support and enhance student development, academic success, and operational and program effectiveness.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists in the planning and review of potential and current assessment and research projects
- Manages assessment studies through the entire six-step assessment process from outcome development to reporting and improvement planning
- Assists with centering equity-based assessment principles and practices which contribute to the justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout ASI and
CSUF
- Consults and develops working relationships with individual students and staff, teams and units within ASI to support assessment efforts
- Assists with efforts to support, educate, and train ASI staff on assessment standards, practices, and tools
- Assists with data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Applies data visualization techniques for assessment reports and presentations
- Develops and presents assessment reports to stakeholders
- Conducts literature reviews related to applied research in higher education/student affairs
- Assists with organizational strategic planning
- Builds effective relationships with staff and students
- Demonstrates a commitment to growing and challenging one’s self in all areas of assessment, higher education, and student development;
- Applies and integrates graduate program learning to the job experience (and vice versa)
- As a member of the ASI Administration and All-Staff teams, meet regularly with team members to ensure proper coordination of work throughout the teams
- Participates in meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
- Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Associated Students and CSUF goals and objectives
Customer Service & Collaboration
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments
Safety
- Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
- Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
- Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Acceptance and enrollment in a graduate program from Student Affairs
- Higher Education, Psychology with an emphasis in research, or a related field

Work Environment
- General office environment
- Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking around campus.
- The working environment is generally favorable
- Lighting and temperature are adequate
