[Remote] Senior Fortinet SD-WAN and Firewall Engineer (L3-SME)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CBTS is seeking a Level 3 Network Engineer with Fortinet Firewall expertise to architect, implement, and optimize secure network solutions. This role emphasizes Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, ensuring robust connectivity and security for critical financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect network strategies and frameworks to support cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments
• Evaluate and recommend network technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance network capabilities
• Assess and integrate third-party solutions including SD-WAN, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, and routers
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, project managers, and IT teams to align network designs with organizational goals
• Ensure network designs adhere to security best practices, regulatory standards, and organizational policies
• Drive innovation by proposing and piloting cutting-edge network technologies
• Serve as SME for Fortinet Secure SD-WAN, FortiGate firewalls, and related Fortinet technologies
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and provide Tier-3 escalation support for critical incidents
• Implement automation and scripting for network configuration and policy management

Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Certifications -Fortinet NSE (preferred), Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or equivalent) are a plus
• 7–10 years of hands-on experience in network engineering and security
• Proven expertise in Fortinet Secure SD-WAN and FortiGate firewall deployments
• Experience in designing and managing hybrid network architectures (cloud + on-prem)
• Deep expertise in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS)
• Strong understanding of firewalls, load balancers, VPN technologies, and network segmentation
• Proficiency with network design tools and documentation standards
• Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and SD-WAN solutions
• Skilled in scripting and automation (Python, Ansible, or similar)
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with PCI DSS, SOX, FFIEC, GLBA compliance frameworks
• Experience integrating Fortinet solutions with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Sentinel)
• Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures and SASE/ZTNA patterns
