Role Description
SEED Grant Project (GIS Co-op/Intern)
Start Date: May 2026
Employer: Daniels Associates Inc. and public sector client
Hours: Up to 8 hours per day, 30 hours maximum per week
Location: Hybrid schedule, 2-3 times onsite per week in downtown Indianapolis
Duration: Estimated 9–12-months
Hourly Rate: $18/hour
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated college or graduate student pursuing a degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or a related field to join our team as a GIS Intern. This internship is dedicated to supporting the SEED Grant Program (Learn more here) and offers hands-on experience working with critical geospatial datasets.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with address, street, parcel, and municipal boundary datasets.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Assist in translating existing datasets into a new schema for standardization.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project milestones and deliverables.
- Document processes and maintain organized data workflows.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and findings clearly to project lead in an agile work environment.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in GIS, Geography, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro 3.x, ArcGIS Enterprise Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
- Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with data transformation and schema mapping.
- Knowledge of SQL, Python, or other scripting languages for GIS workflows.
- Previous coursework or projects involving data quality assurance.
- Familiarity with enterprise geodatabases and versioned data editing.
