Responsibilities

The Department Manager's duties include managing and overseeing all aspects of the food service operations at a single location. This includes ensuring adherence to facility menus and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as HCSG policies, to consistently deliver superior dining services.

• Direct and support the food service team in achieving quality and safety standards.
• Keep accurate records of financial transactions, food supplies, staff, and equipment using HCSG computer software.
• Conduct training and quality control sessions; fulfill roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
• Convey instructions from client managers, occupants, and administrators to HCSG staff efficiently.
• Wear protective gear, safely handle cleaning solutions, and report equipment issues promptly.
• Practice infection control, universal precautions, and handwashing to ensure cleanliness.
• Ensure consistent attendance, punctuality, and timely completion of responsibilities.
• Demonstrate professionalism and cooperation with supervisors, colleagues, client staff, residents, and visitors.
• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in food service management or hospitality, including relevant coursework preferred.
• Two years of experience in quantity food production/service and staff supervision favored.
• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred or as per legal requirements.
• Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within the first 14 days of employment.
• Must acquire Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long-Term Care Food Service (LTC-FSM) certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Maintain an upbeat attitude and communicate effectively with building occupants, administration, and HCSG leadership.
• Adherence to COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
• Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and stand/sit/bend/walk for prolonged periods.
• Capacity to perform repetitive tasks continuously.
• Comfortable working near food and cleaning products.
• Basic computer skills with record-keeping and report completion competency, including online reporting.
• Completion of a sanitation and safety course may be required.
• Residency within the service area is necessary.
