What you'll do...
H&R Block is looking for a Product Designer who is a self-motivated problem solver and passionate about human-centered design. Product Designers at H&R Block address user needs and work with a team to design transformative digital experiences.
Day to day, you'll...
  • Contribute to the end-to-end design outcomes for our DIY tax prep product, bringing to life best-in-class user experiences and interfaces that solve our customer's problems, create joy, and make more possible
  • Support the direction of the Lead Designer while pushing for new thinking
  • Identifies and defines feature-size unsolved customer problems
  • Incorporate modern, premium design and technology trends, owning medium-size project with direction from the Lead Designer
  • Participate in design workshops, incorporate input from the business, communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale, outline responsive design for digital experiences, and work closely with the Enterprise Capabilities (Block Design System) and brand teams to achieve consistency at scale
  • Maintain our brand's integrity while amplifying our story, and support usability and accessibility for our customers
  • Gain a deep understanding of the brand and business
  • Understand the user journey and remove client pain points
  • Strive to educate our customers about our brand and services, driving higher results on metrics such as conversion rates, login, and customer engagement
  • Incorporate testing, insights, and data to iterate specific features + tools within a user flow and help integrate them into the main experiences
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineers/Developers, Analytics, and Content Strategists to define problems and goals, map user flows, prototype interactions, and launch new products and services
  • Work with our content authors to create a governance strategy for components, pages, and holistic site experiences by identify patterns, naming conventions, and usability throughout each aspect of design.
  • Create compelling presentations and design documentation that communicates your outcomes
What you'll bring to the team...
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent professional experience within the design field
  • 3+ years of digital/product design experience for agency or brand
  • Experience designing digital products and systems from mobile to desktop
  • Enthusiasm for the iterative design process, inspired by group critique
  • Motion design and animation skillset
  • Curious, open-minded, and ego-free. You have a growth mindset
  • Excels at finding creative ways to get things done effectively and collaboratively
  • Strong attention to detail and process
  • Experience working in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Draw creative inspiration beyond websites, apps, and interfaces
  • A passion for simplifying complex problems and understand users' needs
  • Comfortable working with partners in business and marketing roles
It would be even better if you also had...
  • Experience contributing to or evolving a design system across multiple products
  • Familiarity with usability testing, user interviews, or other lightweight research methods
  • A working understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles
  • Experience partnering closely with engineering through build and QA, not just handoff
  • Comfort using prototypes to validate ideas with stakeholders or users
  • Some experience with data, metrics, or experimentation to evaluate design impact
  • Exposure to agile product teams and iterative delivery cycles
  • Experience designing for regulated or high-trust spaces (finance, healthcare, legal, etc.)

Pay Range Information
The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
Pay Range
$73,400.00 - $110,100.00/Yr.
