We lead exciting R&D and deployment projects for transportation agencies and delve into groundbreaking technologies, including infrastructure and vehicle connectivity, automation, everything-in-the-loop simulation, and AI/ML modeling. We are seeking a Cybersecurity Solutions Architect/Engineer - Connected Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS) to help shape these initiatives!
Location: This role requires full-time work at the customer site in McLean, VA

Primary Responsibilities
In this role, you will define security architectures across new projects, lead our Secure by Design approach, and create security strategies and documentation. Expected responsibilities include collaborating with security design partners, representing both customers and suppliers, and engaging with colleagues across our engineering, service, and business development teams. You will ensure the establishment of effective and adaptable C-ITS security architectures that evolve with changing customer requirements, legislation, and assurance standards. On specific projects, you will focus on developing and delivering cybersecurity components while maintaining a holistic understanding of the solutions.
Minimal Qualifications
- Strong interest in leveraging emerging technologies to transform the transportation sector.
- Excellent communication abilities to interact successfully with management, technical teams, and external parties.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
- Experience with IoT platforms and devices.
- Thorough knowledge of cyber risk management and treatment approaches across both on-premise systems and cloud technologies.
- Experience integrating risk management frameworks into the system development lifecycle (SDLC) and implementing security controls.
- Proficient in creating and maintaining critical security documentation, such as System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs),and Risk Assessments.
- Skillful in reviewing cybersecurity vulnerabilities and formulating remediation plans.
- Adept at architecting, designing, and maintaining vulnerability scanning solutions.
- Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with connected transportation interoperability (CTI), C-ITS, and vehicle-to-everything standards from ITE, SAE, or IEEE.
- Knowledge of existing C-ITS software and hardware systems.
- Understanding vehicle critical control systems and subsystems.
- Experience in a fast-paced R&D environment.
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Certifications in Redhat, Cisco, Microsoft, Security+, Linux+, or Network+.
- Experience with Sourcefire (snort) or RSA Security Analytics.
- Previous experience as a software or system engineering team lead.
- Familiarity with secure software development practices and application security architecture.
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Gitlab, Jira, Confluence) and Agile methodology.
Anticipated salary range for this role is $95,000-$130,000
