Job Overview

The Hotel Director of Security is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests, employees, and property. This role involves developing and implementing security policies, managing security personnel, and coordinating emergency response plans. The position requires strong leadership, risk management skills, and collaboration with law enforcement and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety & Security Oversight

Ensure the protection of guests, staff, and hotel assets through proactive security measures.

  • Policy Development

Create and enforce security protocols, procedures, and contingency plans to prevent theft, vandalism, and other incidents.

  • Risk Assessment

Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for potential threats.

  • Team Management

Recruit, train, and supervise security personnel; maintain high standards of professionalism and responsiveness.

  • Emergency Preparedness

Develop and execute emergency response plans, including evacuation drills and crisis management.

  • Technology Oversight

Monitor and maintain security systems such as surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control systems.

  • Incident Investigation

Investigate security breaches, thefts, and other incidents; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.

  • Collaboration

Act as liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services for coordinated responses.

  • Compliance & Reporting

Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations; maintain accurate records of security activities.

Qualifications

  • NYC – (FLSD) Certified – Fire Life Safety Director
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or related field.
  • Experience: 5–10 years in security management, preferably in hospitality or law enforcement.
  • Certifications: CPP (Certified Professional) in New York State.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, crisis management, and proficiency with security technology.
