Title: Model Risk Validation Specialist – AML

Job Description

The Senior AML Model Validation Specialist will be responsible for designing, executing, and documenting comprehensive model testing strategies for AML models within the financial services domain. This role requires strong analytical, quantitative, and technical capabilities to ensure AML models are accurate, stable, compliant, and aligned with regulatory expectations. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, support model enhancement, and maintain strong governance over testing activities.

Roles & Responsibilities

Model Testing & Validation

Design and execute end-to-end AML model testing plans covering data integrity, model design, performance evaluation, and outcome analysis.
Perform quantitative testing to assess model accuracy, sensitivity, stability, and alignment with defined KPIs and thresholds.
Develop and run SAS-based testing scripts for data sampling, parameter verification, threshold testing, and scenario simulations.
Document all testing outcomes with detailed evidence, ensuring compliance with internal model validation standards.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

Collaborate with Model Owners, Developers, and Model Validators to understand model logic, data lineage, and business context.
Clearly communicate testing findings, risks, and remediation recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance committees.
Participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to align testing with development cycles.

Model Development & Enhancement

Support enhancement and redevelopment of AML models as needed using SAS or Python for prototyping and statistical analysis.
Assist with implementation testing, threshold calibration, and model tuning activities.
Provide analytical insights into false positives, segmentation impacts, and model drift trends.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure all testing and validation activities follow enterprise Model Risk Management (MRM) policies and AML regulatory standards.
Participate in internal audit and regulatory examinations by preparing testing evidence, documentation, and technical explanations.
Maintain version-controlled documentation of testing scripts, datasets, and validation results.

Required Competencies

Strong knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) concepts and regulatory expectations.
Deep understanding of model testing methodologies, quantitative analysis, and data integrity checks.

Essential Skills

6–10 years of experience in AML model testing, validation, or model development within financial services.
Hands-on experience with SAS (testing scripts, data sampling, scenario modeling).
Experience in QC/QA testing methodologies.
Experience with Python for statistical analysis (preferred).
Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
