Machine Learning Research Engineer

Parametric is building robots to reliably automate physical labor in the real world. We've spent the last few months aggressively building our technology and fundraising and are now excited to begin rapidly growing the company.
About The Role
As a Machine Learning Research Engineer, you'll define how we solve robotics problems from the ground up. You'll create novel algorithms, train models, and run experiments to enable robots to handle complicated real-world tasks for customers. This is a rare opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a robotics company from day one. You'll work across the stack, collaborating with systems and hardware teams to turn research into deployed capabilities.
This is a full-time in-person role in our San Francisco office. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time.
What You'll Do

• Design, train, and deploy machine learning models to solve large-scale perception and control problems
• Design reward modeling architectures
• Own the entire modeling lifecycle from data annotation to training, evaluation, and production deployment
• Write high-quality, scalable, production-ready code
• Collaborate closely with hardware and embedded teams
  

What We're Looking For

• Three or more years working on machine learning for perception, planning, or controls
• Expertise in Python and a modern deep learning framework
• Strong intuition for reinforcement learning dynamics, including experience with actor-critic algorithms (e.g., PPO, SAC) and reward modeling
• Thrives in 0→1 environments where speed and ownership matter more than process
