POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Director of Security is responsible for the oversight of the safety and security of the hotel. This person will respond to guest and employee emergencies, complete incident reports, supervise and the train the security staff. This role will report directly to the Hotel Manager.
Essential Job Functions
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the safety and security of the organization’s assets, employees, and guests.
  • Oversee and manage the security team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating security personnel.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security threats and develop mitigation plans.
  • Create and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services during incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to security and safety, as well as industry-specific standards.
  • Prepare and manage the security department's budget, including allocating resources for personnel, equipment, and technology.
  • Implement and oversee security technologies such as surveillance systems, access control systems, and alarm systems.
  • Lead investigations into security breaches, thefts, or other incidents, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for security staff and other employees on security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Work closely with other departments and senior management to align security initiatives with overall organizational goals and ensure a cohesive approach to safety and security
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in security management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the luxury hotel segment is required.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are preferred.
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficient in the use of security technology and systems.
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle high-stress situations and make critical decisions.
  • Knowledge: Thorough understanding of security protocols, risk management, emergency response, and regulatory compliance.
