Junior Full Stack Engineer (AI-Driven Web Applications)

Spoken is seeking a Junior Full Stack Engineer with a passion for building cloud-hosted web applications and an interest in next-generation agentic AI systems. You'll work closely with our experienced engineering team to develop the core platform that powers multi-voice AI narration, automated production pipelines, and intelligent author tooling.

This is an ideal role for an engineer with a solid foundation in full-stack development who's excited to grow quickly, learn advanced architectural patterns, and contribute to the scaling of modern AI-powered workflows.

The positioning will start half to full time as a contractor ($45-$75/hr based on experience), with potential for transitioning to a full time employee.

What You'll Do

Build and maintain full-stack features across our cloud-hosted platform using Node, Next.js, Python, and PostgreSQL.
Collaborate with senior engineers to implement scalable APIs, agentic AI flows, and data processing pipelines.
Contribute to platform architecture, including the design of services that support large-scale content ingestion, analysis, and AI-driven automation.
Help develop and optimize internal and customer-facing web interfaces.
Write clear, maintainable code with strong attention to testing, performance, and code quality.
Assist in monitoring, debugging, and improving system reliability across our cloud infrastructure.
Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and architectural discussions as part of a tight, high-caliber engineering team.

What We're Looking For

3+ years of professional experience building and deploying web applications.
Strong proficiency in Node.js and Next.js, with a good understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript practices.
Experience with Python for backend or scripting tasks.
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases.
Familiarity with designing, deploying, and scaling cloud-hosted applications (any major provider is fine).
Exposure to—or strong interest in—agentic AI systems, workflow orchestration, LLM-based features, or AI-powered pipelines.
Understanding of API design, REST, and/or modern web application patterns.

Nice to Have

Experience with workflow orchestration systems, vector databases, or AI toolchains.
Knowledge of containerization (Docker), CI/CD, and cloud-native deployment strategies.
Familiarity with event-driven architectures or queue-based systems.
Interest in audio processing, content pipelines, or creative-tech ecosystems.
