Human Intuition. Machine Intelligence. Relentless Exploration.
Exceptional trading emerges where human intuition meets frictionless experimentation. Our platform and processes enable traders to rapidly investigate ideas, identify emergent patterns, and convert insights into live strategies. This synthesis creates a flywheel of discovery — the key to our pursuit of excellence.
The Role
We are looking for a driven Software Engineer to join our Core Engineering team. This is a junior-level position designed for an engineer early in their career who wants to solve meaningful technical problems while gaining broad exposure to the end-to-end operations of a trading firm. In this role, you will contribute directly to the foundational systems that power our trading lifecycle. You will gain exposure to two primary areas:
The Core Engineering team is responsible for the firm's entire trading infrastructure. On a lean team of 10 highly skilled engineers with an average of 5+ years of experience, we view engineering holistically rather than functionally. You will not be restricted to a narrow component; you will own projects that span data, risk, and operations. This end-to-end exposure provides a rare vantage point for a junior engineer, allowing you to develop a deep, comprehensive skillset alongside seasoned mentors in a hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
We use the right tool for the job. You will gain exposure to:
The Base Salary Range is $100,000 - $150,000. These ranges are representative of the starting base salaries for this role at Summit Securities Group. Which range a candidate fits into and where a candidate falls in the range will be based on job related factors such as relevant experience, skills, and location. These ranges represent Base Salary only, which is just one element of our total compensation. The ranges stated do not include other factors of total compensation such as bonuses.
We offer competitive compensation packages, company equity, 401k matching, gender neutral parental leave, and full medical, dental and vision insurance. We believe that working together in person helps solve the complex challenges we solve. We require employees to be in the office 3 days per week. In-office benefits include lunch stipends, fully stocked kitchens, happy hours, a great location, and amazing colleagues.
Our top priority is our people. We invest in a culture that promotes togetherness, helping each other through challenges and celebrating each other's successes. We believe that modern workplaces succeed by having diverse high-performance workforces — in ideas, in cultures, and in experiences. We put in the effort to make such a workplace a daily reality and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.

In this role, you will contribute directly to the foundational systems that power our trading lifecycle. You will gain exposure to two primary areas:
- Data Infrastructure: Expanding our data ecosystem by building a global security master across asset classes, maintaining research data pipelines, and optimizing our modern data warehouse.
- Post-Trade Infrastructure: Building tools that support trading operations, including trade booking, drop copy, position management, firm-wide risk viewing, and compliance reporting.

Responsibilities
- Engineer Resilient Tools: You will help ensure our operations remain safe and compliant by building robust tools for firm-wide risk viewing and reporting.
- Build Scalable Data Infrastructure: Develop and maintain the engines that ingest and transform data. You will help build out our global security master and ensure downstream systems have frictionless access to a high-quality data warehouse.
- Master Data & Reliability: You will tackle complex technical challenges—ranging from automating the flow of raw market data to ensuring the real-time reliability of our risk and position monitoring systems.
- Automate & Orchestrate: Utilize Airflow and Ansible to automate complex data flows and deployment processes, ensuring data enters our firm and reaches researchers without friction.
- Obsess Over the User Experience: You will build tools that are intuitive and powerful for traders and quants.
- Uphold Engineering Standards: Champion best practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, and proactive system monitoring to ensure our Linux/Kubernetes environments remain self-healing and robust.
We use the right tool for the job. You will gain exposure to:
- Languages: Primarily Python with some exposure to C++
- Infrastructure: Linux, Kubernetes, Ansible
- Data & Orchestration: Airflow, Modern Data Warehouse practices
- Networking: Solarflare (low-latency networking)
- Experience: 0–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Core Competencies:
- Primary Language: Strong command of Python for backend development. You can write clean, efficient, and Pythonic code.
- CS Fundamentals: Excellent grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles. You know how to choose the right tool for the job and understand the trade-offs.
- Bonus (C++): While not required, familiarity with C++ is a strong plus. Our high-performance trading engines run on C++, and the ability to read or interface with that codebase is valuable.
- Ideal Profile:
- Technical Curiosity: You have a relentless drive to understand how things work under the hood. You aren't satisfied with "it works"—you want to know why.
- Attention to Detail: In trading, accuracy is paramount. You take pride in writing reliable code and handling edge cases gracefully.
- Collaborative Orientation: You are energized by working closely within a team, communicating clearly, and focusing on collective success.
- Driven by Impact: You take deep satisfaction in seeing your work have a direct, measurable effect on our operations.
