Position Overview:


The Account Manager owns the full client relationship for 8-12 accounts, from onboarding through retention, ensuring SEO and AEO strategies translate into measurable business outcomes. You'll partner with our SEO Strategists and Content Editors to deliver campaigns that perform across Google and AI-powered search surfaces like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews. This role requires excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements while driving results.


Core Responsibilities:


New Client Onboarding:

  • Welcome new clients via email and provide a warm introduction to Taco, setting expectations for partnership success.
  • Schedule and conduct kickoff calls to understand client needs, goals, and define quarterly KPIs. 
  • Ensure the technical team has access to all necessary resources to begin the SEO/AEO campaign and strategy.
  • Build and maintain client dashboards using tools like Google Sheets. 
  • Review and present the strategy document to clients for approval, framing deliverables against business KPIs.

Client Strategy & Retention

  • Manage 8-12 key accounts; set quarterly KPIs and run QBRs tied to pipeline and revenue impact.
  • Maintain regular communication (twice weekly minimum) and correspondence with clients.
  • Respond promptly to client communications (Slack and Email); send meeting agendas ahead of time and follow-up notes post-meetings.
  • Proactively surface client wins and strategic insights (new keyword positions, featured snippets, AI citation appearances), framing results against business KPIs and quarterly objectives.
  • Notify clients when SEO content or backlinks have been published / go live. 
  • Manage a client pod (SEO Strategist, Editors) to ensure work is completed on time and to standard, reviewing all work before client delivery.

AI Search & Emerging Surfaces

  • Monitor client visibility across AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Stay current on SERP evolution, including Reddit answer boxes, YouTube search, and LLM citations, and translate findings into actionable client recommendations.
  • Leverage AI tools for research, content briefs, and QA workflows to improve team efficiency.
  • Inject SEO/AEO insights into broader marketing discussions and cross-functional roadmaps.

Monthly Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare for and conduct monthly client reporting meetings, tying performance to business outcomes.
  • Discuss any outstanding issues or items with SEO Strategists. 
  • Review action items completed during the last month and update the client dashboard with relevant metrics from AI Visibility tooling, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Ahrefs.
  • Track organic leads from client website forms, website calls, or GBP calls.

Project Management

  • Develop and manage project timelines to ensure on-time delivery of SEO/AEO campaigns.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to allocate resources effectively and meet project deadlines.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed to accommodate changes in scope or client requests.
  • Log new tasks into Asana after client meetings and ensure strategists, and editors are aware of upcoming priorities.


Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in SEO account management (agency preferred) with demonstrated client retention success.
  • Strong command of SEO fundamentals: technical audits, content strategy, link building, and keyword research.
  • Proficiency in Ahrefs, SERanking, Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and Asana.
  • Experience in industries like eCommerce, B2B SaaS, and Local SEO.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to simplify complexity for clients and mentor junior team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with strong organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with AI search surfaces (ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews) and how they differ from traditional SERP.
  • Experience with programmatic SEO or large-scale content operations.
  • Comfort using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) for research, outlines, and workflow automation.
  • Track record of client retention (≤25% annual churn) and measurable lead growth across accounts.
