Salary: $15.00 per hour
Description
The Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning is looking for student workers to place at off-campus organizations for the fall/spring semesters.
THIS IS AN OFF-CAMPUS COLLEGE WORK-STUDY POSITION.
There are two types of positions that students may fill as participants in the Community Work-Study and Internship program:
- Elementary Math, Science, or Reading Tutor
- Community Engagement Intern
Duties
The specific duties for each internship will vary by site.
Generally, tutors will work in educational settings (schools or a non-profit) to help elementary school students better comprehend math, science, or reading
Community engagement interns will hold internship positions within a local non-profit in an area related to their academic major or specific interests
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interest in community issues, engagement, and social justice
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work cooperatively and in a leadership role
- Organizational skills
Qualifications
- Must be a current UHD student
- Must be enrolled in at least six credit hours
- Must have a work-study award from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
