Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Honors College at UNCW is seeking a Student Services

Coordinator to join a growing interdisciplinary College. The

Student Services Coordinator will provide support in the following

areas

Admissions Coordination: Broad scope of duties, inclusive

of student visits and campus visitation events; application

tracking, reporting, reading, and some decision-making;

disseminating admissions decisions; maintaining data integrity

related to applications; coordinating print and digital marketing

campaigns; performing virtual and in-person recruitment

presentations for high schools; serving as the first point of

contact for prospective students and collaborating with HRL to

assign housing to first-year LLC students; development and

facilitation of admissions workshops.

Managing Scholarship Awarding: Working with the Director

and other staff, making all scholarship awards and renewals through

NextGen; reporting on student scholarships in service of

development and fundraising; interpreting policies and requirements

to students and families.

Departmental Honors (thesis) Coordination: Track all 100+

thesis projects per academic year from application submission to

final project submittal, including: all forms and approvals;

serving as the first point of contact for all thesis and

process-related questions from students, faculty and departments;

facilitating thesis course-building alongside the Registrar;

working with the Library archivist; maintaining up-to-date

information and policies on the website and Departmental Honors

Canvas course.

Creating Honors College reports & Data

Management: Coordinate all data collection for inclusion in

industry publications, annual reports, and monthly updates to

high-level administrators.

Student Programming: Alongside other Honors College staff,

the Coordinator will brainstorm and implement social, educational,

volunteer, and professional development programs; help coordinate

logistics for events; identify and pursue opportunities for Honors

to co-sponsor events; build long-term relationships with external

community partners; collaborate with nonprofit and community

agencies to provide experiential learning and service opportunities

for students.

Marketing, Website Design, and Communications. Design

informational media; manage Honors social media; curate a biweekly

newsletter; manage all website updates; and take responsibility for

the majority of mass communication to Honors students.

Other duties as assigned. Central to this

role is the ability to establish a strong relationship with

students through a personable and accessible approach and the

ability to demonstrate the importance of being "more than your

major" through interdisciplinary inquiry.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and

experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately

accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills &

Experience

  • Master's Degree and 1 year of experience in a similar higher

education environment or a Bachelor's degree and one year of

experience in an Honors College/Program environment

  • Ability to communicate with students across a range of

disciplinary interests within a broad liberal arts and

interdisciplinary curriculum

  • Experience with multicultural/diverse student backgrounds
  • Experience with admissions and recruitment processes
  • Experience advising Honors students through curricular issues,

programming, thesis support, co-curricular programming and

experiences

  • Experience/proficiency with social media, technology, or

graphic design
