About The Group
The Group of 77 (G-77) was established on 15 June 1964 by seventy-seven developing countries that signed the “Joint Declaration of the Seventy-Seven Developing Countries” at the conclusion of the first session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva. Following its First Ministerial Meeting in Algiers, Algeria (10–25 October 1967), which adopted the Charter of Algiers, the Group established Chapters with liaison offices in Geneva, Nairobi, Paris, Rome, Vienna, and Washington, D.C. (the Group of 24). Although its membership has expanded to 134 countries, the original name has been retained for its historic significance. The First South Summit, held in April 2000, established a permanent Executive Secretariat at United Nations Headquarters in New York, which serves as the institutional core and memory of the Group, providing technical and substantive support, and facilitates coordination among all Chapters to ensure the effective implementation of the Group's decisions and mandates.
Role Purpose
The role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in web content management, digital communications, and information organization within a multilateral environment. The intern will also gain insights into intergovernmental processes and the coordination of developing countries' positions within the United Nations system.

- Content Creation Assistance: Under the guidance of the secretariat team, assist in creating and formatting content for web pages, blog posts, newsletters, and other digital channels, following brand guidelines and best practices.
- Content Editing and Proofreading: Help in reviewing and proofreading content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in style and tone.
- Content Publishing Support: Aid in the publishing and updating of website content using content management systems (CMS - Unite Web Drupal 10), ensuring it meets quality standards and is correctly formatted.
- Support Content Migration: Assist with manual migration on low to medium complexity websites from legacy formats to current Unite Web Drupal 10, ensuring compliance with branding, accessibility, usability and multilingualism.
- Image and Media Management: Assist in sourcing, resizing, and optimizing images and other media assets for use on websites, ensuring they are appropriately tagged and credited.
- Metadata and SEO Support: Under the guidance of the secretariat team, should assist in optimizing content for search engines by adding metadata, keywords, and tags, as well as implementing other SEO best practices under supervision.
- Content Organization Assistance: under the guidance of the secretariat team, assists organize and categorize content on websites, ensuring proper tagging and taxonomy for improved navigation and searchability.
- Quality Assurance Support: Under guidance of the secretariat team, should assist in conducting routine checks and testing to identify and correct errors, broken links, and other issues impacting the user experience and website performance.
- Analytics and Reporting Assistance: In guidance of the secretariat team, assist in gathering and analyzing website metrics and user behaviour data, contributing to reports and insights on content performance.
- Content Collaboration Support: In guidance of the secretariat team, collaborate with cross-functional teams to support content creation, updates, and campaigns, helping to coordinate tasks and deadlines.
- Basic Website Maintenance: Assist in routine website maintenance tasks, such as updating plugins, software, and security patches, under supervision.
- Documentation and Training Support: Help document processes, guidelines, and best practices for web content management, as well as providing support and training to content contributors and stakeholders.
- Research and Learning: Assistant to conduct research on industry trends, competitor websites, and emerging technologies to contribute ideas and insights for content improvement and innovation.
- Social Media Support: Assist in scheduling and publishing content on social media platforms, as well as monitoring engagement and responding to comments under guidance.
- Multimedia Content Support: Assist to Aid in creating and editing multimedia content, such as videos, infographics, and interactive elements, for use on websites and other digital channels.
Required:
- Currently enrolled in a university programme such as Bachelor, Masters or Ph.D. (or the equivalent) or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the application date of the internship.
Desired:
- While no prior work experience is required, specialized experience in various professional fields is an asset. A portfolio of relevant work is an asset.
