Position Summary

The Sales Director – Commercial & Industrial (C&I) will lead business development, account management, and sales execution for non-utility customers, including data centers, large industrial manufacturers, mining operations, and commercial facilities. This senior role will oversee a regional team of Key Account Managers and Business Development Managers, driving growth across multiple sectors and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives for revenue, profitability, and market share.

The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of industrial power systems, EPC relationships, and transformer applications in complex engineered-to-order environments. This position combines strategic leadership and hands-on customer engagement, making it a pivotal part of Virginia Transformer’s commercial expansion strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a national sales strategy for the C&I segment, targeting industrial, commercial, and data center clients.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Key Account Managers and Business Development Managers to achieve growth and margin objectives.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with large industrial customers, EPCs, OEMs, and commercial developers.
  • Partner with Applications Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to ensure proposal accuracy, technical alignment, and on-time project delivery.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and long-term agreements that optimize profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify emerging trends and customer needs within the data center, manufacturing, and industrial infrastructure markets.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Product Development teams to align offerings with market opportunities.
  • Track performance metrics, forecast revenue, and present regular updates to executive leadership.
  • Represent Virginia Transformer at major industry events, trade shows, and customer forums to enhance brand visibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of sales and account leadership experience in power systems, electrical equipment, or transformer markets, with at least 5 years leading a regional or national team.
  • Demonstrated success managing multimillion-dollar accounts across commercial, data center, and industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution systems, switchgear, and transformer design principles.
  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and data-driven sales reporting tools.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% across key customer regions.
