Senior AI Ethics Researcher

This role is critical in ensuring our AI systems are fair, transparent, accountable, and beneficial to society. You will conduct in-depth research, develop ethical frameworks, and collaborate with AI development teams to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Conduct cutting-edge research on emerging ethical challenges and implications of AI and machine learning. Develop and refine ethical principles, guidelines, and best practices for AI development and deployment. Analyze AI models and systems for potential biases, fairness issues, and unintended consequences. Design and implement frameworks and tools for assessing and mitigating ethical risks in AI. Collaborate closely with AI researchers, engineers, product managers, and legal teams to integrate ethical considerations into the AI development process. Author white papers, research reports, and policy recommendations on AI ethics. Stay abreast of academic research, industry trends, and regulatory developments in AI ethics and responsible AI. Advocate for ethical AI practices within the organization and represent the company in relevant external forums. Develop training materials and conduct workshops to educate internal teams on AI ethics principles. Contribute to the ethical review and governance processes for AI projects. Engage with external stakeholders, academics, and policymakers to foster dialogue and collaboration on AI ethics. Guide the interpretation and application of ethical AI frameworks to real-world AI products and services.
Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent research experience in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Philosophy, Law, Sociology, or Ethics, with a specialization in AI ethics. Minimum of 5 years of research experience focusing on AI ethics, fairness, accountability, transparency, or related areas. Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous academic or applied research and publish findings. Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and their societal implications. Proven experience developing ethical frameworks, guidelines, or assessment tools for technology. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ethical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and non-technical teams. Familiarity with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards for AI. Ability to work independently and lead research initiatives. Strong advocacy and presentation skills.
