Job Summary

We’re seeking a Senior Android Performance Engineer to drive performance excellence for a flagship Android application. This role focuses on delivering a smooth, responsive, and resource-efficient user experience by identifying and resolving complex performance bottlenecks across UI, rendering, and frameworks.

Must-Have (Non-Negotiable) Skills

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in Android performance engineering
• Strong expertise in Java/Kotlin for Android
• Deep understanding of Android OS architecture & performance pitfalls
• Expert proficiency with Android profiling tools:
• Android Profiler
• Perfetto
• Systrace
• Dumpsys
• ADB
• Battery Historian
• Proven ability to measure and interpret memory, energy, power & thermal metrics
• Strong Android UI optimization skills (View hierarchies, RecyclerView, animations, overdraw)
• Strong knowledge of mobile system architecture (CPU/GPU, memory, power management)
• Experience with performance testing frameworks:
• Android Macrobenchmark
• Microbenchmark
• Espresso
• Strong communication skills to explain complex performance analysis
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Android performance profiling (jank, ANRs, memory, thermal)
• Optimize Android UI, rendering, and system performance
• Define, track, and report performance KPIs
• Develop & integrate performance monitoring tools and automation frameworks
• Implement specialized performance tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) in CI/CD
• Serve as Android performance SME across teams
• Perform in-depth data analysis and build custom tools for insights
