Position Overview The IT Security Engineer will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for the design, implementation, security, and ongoing administration of enterprise Active Directory (AD) and identity management solutions. This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, identity synchronization, and security architecture to ensure a secure, reliable, and compliant directory services environment. The engineer will lead large-scale AD initiatives, support security and compliance requirements, and collaborate closely with system administrators, service managers, and business stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Active Directory and identity management solutions.
- Plan, support, and lead directory synchronization systems for Microsoft Active Directory and Windows-based environments.
- Configure and manage Active Directory server roles, including Certificate Authorities (CA), IIS, File/Print Services, and DNS.
- Analyze, design, and implement Active Directory security solutions, including capacity planning and permissions management.
- Configure, analyze, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects (GPOs), including item-level targeting and workstation/browser configurations.
- Utilize PowerShell scripting and LDAP queries to modify AD attributes and automate administrative tasks.
- Perform analysis of existing Active Directory environments to identify technical and operational challenges and recommend improvements.
- Serve as the primary coordinator for Active Directory migration and integration activities.
- Oversee and maintain the security, reliability, and integrity of the corporate Active Directory forest and schema.
- Support regulatory and compliance requests by providing data from Active Directory and related systems.
- Lead technical evaluations to assess infrastructure impacts, including redundancy and capacity requirements.
- Interact regularly with system administrators, service managers, and operational teams to design, test, and deploy security and automation solutions.
- Develop and maintain process documentation governing installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of identity and authorization services.
- Create training manuals and presentation materials using Microsoft Office tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting production messaging and identity environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience administering and engineering Microsoft Active Directory environments.
- Strong expertise with:
- Active Directory attributes, LDAP queries, and Kerberos authentication
- PowerShell scripting and automation (VBScript or PowerShell)
- Group Policy analysis, configuration, and troubleshooting
- AD Sites, replication topology, and native AD troubleshooting tools
- In-depth knowledge of native Microsoft built-in groups, permissions, and security policies.
- Experience integrating applications with Active Directory for authentication and authorization.
- Proven ability to independently lead large-scale Active Directory and identity management projects.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- MCSE certification
- ITIL v4 certification
- Familiarity with VMView and applications integrated with Active Directory
