Position Overview

The Senior Support Specialist – Site Lead is the primary technical support and technology operations owner for MP Materials’ Fort Worth Independence production facility. This role ensures operational reliability, service continuity, and secure support of systems critical to manufacturing, laboratory operations, and administrative users. This position requires strong troubleshooting capabilities, experience in enterprise IT environments, and the ability to operate independently while coordinating cross-functional initiatives.

The Site Lead partners closely with corporate IT, vendors, and plant operations to maintain system uptime, implement new solutions, and support technology procurement aligned to business needs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary on-site escalation point for end-user, workstation, and local infrastructure incidents.
  • Provide production-floor support for manufacturing and lab systems, including OT connected devices.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to junior I.T. personnel.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute technology projects at the site level, including upgrades, hardware deployments, and security implementations.
  • Conduct requirements gathering with business and operations stakeholders to support IT procurement requests, ensuring alignment with standards and lifecycle strategy.
  • Support networking equipment (switches, wireless APs) and structured cabling; coordinate complex tasks with corporate networking teams.
  • Administer endpoint management and security tools, maintaining compliance with corporate configuration standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, documentation, and lifecycle management for site IT assets.
  • Build strong relationships with plant leadership, vendors, and corporate teams to ensure high levels of service and communication.
  • Participate in after-hours maintenance windows and incident response as needed.
  • Support and contribute to standard operating procedures, change management controls, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work safely in production areas and comply with all PPE and industrial safety requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technology field, or equivalent certification + 4+ years of hands-on IT support experience.
  • Strong proficiency supporting Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Experience with Intune, Autopilot, Apple Business Manager, and Entra ID/Active Directory administration.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and site-level troubleshooting.
  • Ability to diagnose hardware across desktops, laptops, industrial PCs, and peripherals.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles including endpoint protection, encryption, and secure configuration.
  • Ability to self-direct, prioritize work to production needs, and communicate effectively across roles and levels.

Desired Qualities

  • IT support experience in 24/7 manufacturing or OT-adjacent environments (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES).
  • Familiarity with CrowdStrike, Zscaler, DataLocker, or equivalent enterprise security tools.
  • Exposure to virtualization and hyperconverged platforms; Nutanix experience a plus.
  • Experience with orchestration and automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar.
  • Scripting proficiency (PowerShell, Python) for efficiency and automation.
  • A/V or studio hardware support experience (Vizrt, TriCaster).
  • Certifications: CompTIA A+/Network+, Microsoft MDA (MD-102), CCNA, or equivalent.
